This data must be updated throughout a Student's Engagement where applicable.
Religion or belief is recorded on the basis of the student's own self-assessment.
To align with the methodology used in the census, providers in Northern Ireland should display the options to students with 20 'No religion' at the bottom of the list.
Valid entry 99 'Not available' should be returned where the provider does not know the information.
When collecting this information providers can choose to use the answer option of 'Prefer not to say' which can be mapped to 'Information refused'.
Valid entry 98 'Prefer not to say' should only be returned where the student was asked the question and selected the option indicating they do not wish to provide the information. 98 must not be returned where this is not the case.
If the provider does not know the information but the student has not refused to provide it, 99 'Not available' must be returned.
