Notes

Valid entries 04, 05 and 06 must not be used by providers in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales. These are only applicable to providers in England.

Students funded by DfE(NI) on courses leading to eligibility to teach in Northern Ireland should be returned as valid entry 01.

Valid entry 01 should be used for teacher training courses that lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), this may include PGCE, BEd, or courses that lead to QTS only.

Valid entry 02 includes courses leading to Further Education Teacher Qualification and to Nursing and Midwifery Teacher Qualification. FE courses will be specifically identified in CurriculumAccreditation.CURACCID valid entry 99801.

Valid entry 03 INSET/In-service course is one for which the primary (but not necessarily the only) purpose is to improve the effectiveness of teachers, lecturers or trainers. In considering whether this is the purpose of particular courses, providers may wish to consider the content of the course and course literature, including prospectuses and any other marketing material.

Providers in England are not expected to return a record to HESA for students on employment-based routes e.g. GTP, OTT, and RTP. The DfE collects this data via the Initial Teacher Training Data Management System (ITTDMS).
