Research council student(RCSTDNT)

All Engagements where Qualification.QUALCAT starts with D, E, L or M (except M0002, M0016 and M0018) except where Engagement.INCOMINGEXCHANGE exists or (Leaver.ENGENDDATE - Engagement.ENGSTARTDATE <= 14 days and RSNENGEND = 03, 05, 11, 12).

Where the Engagement has at any point been funded, in whole or in part, by a Research Council, this must be indicated in this field. 

Once an Engagement has been returned as having Research Council funding it should therefore not be updated to not having Research Council funding. 
 
All Research Council students must be coded to the appropriate Research Council irrespective of whether they are named in the award or are allocated a studentship from Research Council funding made available to the provider. 
 
Although a student may not be in receipt of a full award via a Research Council funding mechanism or scheme, the appropriate Research Council coding is required in all cases. 
 
Where a student is jointly funded by more than one Research Council, the lead council should be recorded in this field. 

Providers should also complete the RCSTDID field (Je-S Personal Identifier) for each student in receipt of Research Council funding. RCSTDID facilitates the robust linkage of UKRI and HESA student data, which helps UKRI better understand students receiving UKRI funding and may also provide opportunities to reduce data entry requirements in the long term by avoiding duplication. For the 22-23 record we are introducing a new tolerance to encourage more providers to submit this data. We are also considering making RCSTDID mandatory in future collections.
