Description
This field records whether a Student is a carer.
Notes

This data must be updated throughout a Student's Engagement where applicable.

The Carers Trust define a carer as: 'anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member, who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support'.

99 must be returned where the data is not known by the provider.

Reason Required
To monitor the participation and retention of student carers at higher education providers in Scotland, to allow analysis in order to monitor fee and access plans in Wales in the context of commitments made by institutions to students with caring responsibilities.
